When you first open the Moomin Language School application, you will be asked to grant it permission to use the camera, microphone and media on your device. These options will be used for a profile picture and the provided weekly extra speaking exercises and will only be active in our secured cloud environment.
πŸ‘‰
The first sign-in might take longer than usual since our application needs to load the newest learning content over the Internet.

Using the Application

Once you have logged in to the application, you will be directed to your child's week view. At this point you can give the device to your child and ask them to do the latest available daily exercise (Daily Study Unit). For best results, your child should complete one new daily study unit and perhaps some of the optional weekly extras each weekday.

πŸ‘‰
The learning application is meant to be used only for 5-15 minutes a day, no more. This may not seem like much, but research has shown that short but frequent practice sessions yield better learning results than longer, less frequent ones - plus this way language learning doesn't take up all day! In addition to learning a language, the service teaches children a safe way to use technology and that technology can be used for educational purposes as well, not just for entertainment.

We don't want students to play too much, which is why only one daily exercise becomes available each weekday. The exercises need to be done in order, so if there are unfinished exercises, the following available exercises will have a lock on them. Once the previous exercise is done, the lock will disappear and the exercise becomes available immediately. A clock means that the exercise is not yet available even if the student has done all the previous exercises - they will have to wait until the next day.

Playtime

The application includes a playtime to ensure that your child doesn't play for too long. The playtime is set by the teacher. Once the playtime is up, your child cannot do any more exercises in the application that day.

If your child has playtime left once they have completed the daily exercise, they can do previous exercises or any of the additional exercises at the bottom of the screen. Completed study units can also always be repeated.
